Housing for
Youth and Services Our #1 Priority! Advocacy, Lifeskill
Training,Employment and Educational
Guidance |
OUR MISSION STATEMENT Our Mission is to provide housing and services to young adults who are unique to homelessness due to their family circumstances, disability, and/or lack of economic resources by supporting, uplifting, and directing them to a path of self sufficiency.
For over 3 years The House of
Joy Transitional Programs has been using
our experience in youth transitional housing
and services to better the lives of youths and adults
ages 18 to 24. From youth to adult education, to teaching
life skills, our Christian ideals come through in everything we
do—we are dedicated to the prevention of deliquency of our
community's youth, to insure them to have productive lives as
citizens. We are a down-to-earth, generous, and loving
establishment. So contact us today to receive help
from our staff of volunteers who are activists in the
community that have been in our kids' situation. History of
Our Organization: Our founder, Joy Thompson, was a
foster parent. When her children emancipated she realized due
to their family circumstances and disabilities they were not ready
to venture out in the world on their own. So she kept them in her
home despite the lack of continued funding to care for them.
She worked two jobs to allow her to prepare them to
become self-sufficient. The need for her services in her community
became overwelming for one home, so she opened a facility for
girls, and then, she opened a home for men who were homeless.
Since then 28 young adults have received housing and services from
the House of Joy and its community partners. |

Every hour of every day, someone in the United States needs essential services - from finding an after-school program to securing adequate care for a child or an aging parent. Faced with a dramatic increase in the number of agencies and help-lines, people often don't know where to turn. In many cases, people end up going without these necessary services because they do not know where to start. 2-1-1 helps people find and give help. |
